The 1076 paper cored tape features a saturable backing that minimizes void potential and enhances bonding with diamond paper insulation during transformer baking while providing excellent stiffness. This construction reduces the risk of impregnation voids that can cause corona discharges and insulation deterioration. This 3M electrical filament tape combines electrical-grade paper backing reinforced with scrim glass filaments and an oil-compatible acrylic pressure sensitive adhesive. Unlike film-backed alternatives, the paper backing allows complete impregnation and saturation between adjacent insulation layers.
