Magnesium Citrate USP Granular is an odorless, white granulated mineral in the tribasic hydrated form. It has a 3:2 Magnesium Citrate and manufactured in a class 100K facility using injection grade water. It is most commonly used as a source of magnesium in any food, beverage, and in nutritional supplement applications, especially for those products that require low total aerobic counts, and low trace minerals. Commonly used for to treat occasional constipation on a short-term basis. Magnesium citrate is in a class of medications called saline laxatives. It works by causing water to be retained with the stool. This increases the number of bowel movements and softens the stool so it is easier to pass.
